About Faiza Ahmad

I am Faiza Ahmad, a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a counsellor who has an asset of belonging to a South Asian cultural background. I can speak Urdu, Punjabi, and English and have work experience with diverse populations in Canada and Pakistan. As a volunteer, I worked in the community to raise awareness about the value of seeking help for mental health. As a volunteer peer counsellor, I provided counselling, referrals, and resources to anonymous Muslim women callers dealing with various life challenges like abuse, familial issues, marital issues, depression, anxiety, suicidal ideation, and religious struggle. I have working experience with the clients from diverse backgrounds who struggle with abuse (violence against women, VAW), depression, anxiety, grief, relationship issues, boundaries setting, self-esteem, stress management, communication skills, anger management, and trauma. I also, co-facilitated groups, including a psychoeducational group for VAW clients and a group for the fathers to develop a better relationship with their children. I am passionate about providing evidence-based psychotherapy to women, young adults, adults and seniors. I believe in a confidential, ethically safe, non-judgmental, empathetic, trauma-informed, feminist, culturally sensitive, and client-centered approach focusing on each client's unique bio-psycho-social-spiritual needs. I prefer to work through the lens of solution-focused approach, narrative approach, harm reduction approach, cognitive behavioural approach strength-based approach, and dialectical behavioural therapy. Primarily focuses on the empowerment of clients, client's preferences for goal setting and work together to help them achieve the goals that brought them to the counselling.
