Marwa is a Registered Psychotherapist (Qualifying) and a member of the College of Registered Psychotherapists and the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. She first began her career as an educator and learned quickly that her passion lies in supporting youth and adults to navigate their life's challenges and attain a deeper sense of self-awareness. This inspired her to pursue her Master of Education in Counselling Psychology and Psychotherapy at OISE, at the University of Toronto. Marwa has experience supporting youth and adults, particularly women, with her roles at Glendon York University, Nisa Homes and Naseeha Mental Health. She has worked alongside people who struggle with various concerns, including stress, anxiety, depression, self-esteem, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder, grief, domestic abuse, narcissistic abuse, relationship issues, life transitions and women’s issues. Marwa is passionate about supporting clients in overcoming barriers to personal well-being and strives to provide client-centred support using a holistic, strength-based, trauma-informed, culturally-sensitive and anti-oppressive approach. By nurturing a safe, compassionate, inclusive and empathic space, Marwa collaboratively works with her clients to meet their unique needs and goals. Her practice is eclectic in nature, often drawing on psychodynamic therapy, Cognitive-Based Therapy (CBT), self-compassion therapy and mindfulness-based interventions. She believes it is a privilege to be a part of your journey of self-discovery and healing. Upon request, Marwa can provide faith-based therapy for clients who identify as Muslim and can provide services in English with a working knowledge of Arabic.
