This approach encompasses psycho-dynamic, cognitive-behavioral therapy and other therapeutic models of treatment appropriate for the issues raised in the process of psychotherapy.

Ms. Baig-Amin also serves as a consultant and provides consultation and counseling services to international organizations and their employees in the District of Columbia.

Psychotherapy/Counselling:
I offer counseling services for adolescents, adults, couples, and families.  I ascribe to an integrative approach based on an empowerment model of treatment to assist clients in overcoming challenges they may face by helping them identify and access personal strengths.  I have been trained in psychodynamic, interpersonal, family systems, empowerment, cognitive-behavioral and trauma-informed therapies.

I have experience working on treating individuals who have experienced trauma, anxiety, and depressive conditions and in helping individuals who have interpersonal and/or self-difficulties such as mood disorders, marital conflict, domestic violence, stress management, childhood sexual abuse, interpersonal conflict, work issues, and adjustment disorders.

I also have expertise working with foreign/international individuals and families dealing with the challenges of life transitions, racial/cultural issues, divorce/separation matters, and adjustment issues.

Your time and resources are important.  I listen for and help you identify your strengths and skills, how you think about things, what’s important and meaningful for you, and what you want from therapy. I can help you get clear about what’s at the core of the issues, and help you find your way through to what you need to resolve it – either making the changes you need to or finding a different way to be with difficult situations. We will work together to increase your ability to emotionally regulate and be resilient.

I normally conduct an initial assessment in the first session.  During this time, we can both decide if I am the best person to provide the services you need in order to meet your treatment goals.  If we decide to proceed with psychotherapy, I typically structure sessions once per week, at a mutually agreeable time.  I strongly believe in outcomes-oriented practice and thus, monitor progress frequently in order to ensure that we are meeting your treatment goals.
