Why January 2, 2026 Matters

A unified khutbah for Muslim mental health across our community
On January 2, 2026, Imams across Canada will stand on the minbar with one shared intention: to break the silence around Muslim mental health and remind our communities that seeking help is part of honouring the amanah of our health. By delivering this khutbah, you use the power of Jumuʿah to say clearly: your pain is seen, your struggles matter, and help is available.

Co-written by Menahal Begawala (LMHC & Clinical Director, Ruh), Imam Sikander Hashmi (Executive Director, CCI) and Imam Abd AlFattah Twakkal (Board Member, CCI), this khutbah is designed for any Imam to deliver with minimal prep while staying true to their own voice and community.

Impact of Joining the National Khutbah Campaign for Muslim Mental Health

By participating, you will:

Normalize conversations about mental health from the minbar, reducing shame and stigma

Direct your community to trusted Muslim mental health resources like Ruh and local supports, so people know where to turn

Urge community members to take their well-being seriously, to check in on themselves, their families, and their neighbours.

Signal to those who are struggling in silence that they are not weak, not alone, and not a burden on the community

Every masjid that joins amplifies this message. Our goal is that, on January 2, 2026, Muslims across the country hear a consistent, compassionate reminder: taking care of your mental health is part of taking care of your iman, and our community is here to support you.
