About
My work as a counsellor is grounded in a lifelong commitment to faith, service, and community care. I am a graduate counselling practicum student completing my Master of Arts in Counselling Psychology (MACP) at Yorkville University, and I also hold a Master’s degree in Islamic Studies from Al-Azhar University. Over the past 25 years, I have had the privilege of serving Muslim communities across Egypt, Mozambique, South Africa, the United States, and Canada, bringing together clinical training with extensive pastoral leadership and community education.
My journey has included six years of social and community service in South Africa and Mozambique, where I supported families and youth through education and community-based initiatives. While in Mozambique, I served as the manager of an Islamic center, overseeing community programming, educational services, and family support activities. I have also worked as an imam and teacher in Egypt and later in the United States, delivering structured Islamic education, Qur’an memorization, and Arabic language instruction, as well as youth and parenting workshops.
I am currently serving in New Brunswick as an Imam and Executive Director, continuing my work in community leadership, education, and family support. This diverse background in leadership, teaching, and cross-cultural community service provides me with a strong foundation to support clients facing family and relationship challenges, parenting concerns, adolescent issues, anxiety, stress, grief, identity and immigration concerns, and major life transitions.
In my counselling practicum, I offer a compassionate, structured, and culturally responsive approach to care. When clients request it, I can integrate faith-sensitive support alongside evidence-based counselling skills.
